We build products, objects and worlds in 3D, and we make them sit in a frame as if a camera had found them. CGI has been part of CandyShopVFX since we started in 2013, and since 2018 the heavier work runs through The Δivision, our team for simulation, characters and full environments.
Most of what we build is for brands: a product that does not exist yet, a shot that cannot be filmed, a mechanism that has to be seen from the inside, or a campaign that needs forty variants of the same bottle without forty photo shoots.
What we build
- 3D product animation. The product as hero: rotations, reveals, exploded views, mechanisms opened up and shown working.
- Photoreal product shots. Full CG stills and frames that replace a photo shoot, in any colour, size and packaging variant.
- CG integration into live action. Objects, vehicles and products dropped into filmed plates so they sit in the same light.
- Simulation. Liquids, splashes, smoke, particles and destruction, which is where most product films earn their look.
- Characters and creatures. Modelling, rigging, animation and look development.
- Environments. Sets and worlds that would be impossible, unsafe or simply too expensive to build.
- Broadcast and title design in 3D. Idents, packages and openers.
What we need from you
The cost of a CGI job is decided long before anyone opens a 3D application, by the quality of what we are given. Clean CAD data, the real packaging artwork, accurate dimensions and a physical sample on the desk can cut days off a build. A low-resolution photo of the box and a promise that the shape is roughly right will add them back.
So the first thing we do is look at your material and tell you honestly which parts we can model from what exists and which parts we have to rebuild. That conversation happens before the quote, not after it.
How a CGI project runs
- Material and scope. We go through your CAD, artwork and references, agree what gets built, and quote per deliverable.
- Styleframes. Before any animation, you see still frames at close to final quality: lighting, materials, camera. The look is agreed here, in a day or two, instead of being argued about at the end over a finished render.
- Animation and simulation. Movement, timing and effects, reviewed in playblasts before anything goes to full render.
- Render and comp. Final frames, compositing, grade.
- Delivery. Masters and versions in whatever formats the campaign runs on, from broadcast to social crops.
Frequently asked questions
Can CGI replace product photography?
Often, yes, and it usually pays off the moment you need more than one version. Once the product is built in 3D, a new colour, a new flavour, a different pack size or a different market’s label is a change of a few hours, not another shoot. It also lets you shoot angles a camera physically cannot reach, such as inside the product.
What do you need from us to start?
CAD files if they exist, the print-ready packaging artwork, accurate dimensions, and references for the look you want. A physical sample is the single most useful thing you can send us. If you have none of that we can still build from photographs, it simply takes longer and we will say so before quoting.
Do you build only the CG, or the whole film?
Either. Some clients send boards and take the rendered frames away to finish elsewhere. Most of the time we build the CG, composite it, cut it, add the sound and deliver the masters, because the film ends up finished in the same place it was built.
Can you match CGI to footage we have already shot?
Yes. That is compositing work and it is what the studio was built on. We track the camera, match the lighting and the lens, and put the CG element into the plate. The earlier we see the footage the better, and if the shoot has not happened yet we would rather be there.
How quickly can you deliver?
It depends on how much has to be built from scratch rather than adapted, which is why we look at your material before quoting. Send the product and the references and you get a schedule together with the price, before anyone commits to anything.
Send us the product
Send the CAD, the pack shot or the reference board and we come back with what we can build, how long it takes and what it costs per deliverable. If you are weighing CGI against a photo shoot, we will tell you which one your campaign actually needs.
